First Time Traveling with Baby...

Ok folks...it's been a while since my last post.  I was busy as a bee getting ready for our big trip to Cuba for Kai's Godparents' wedding!  This was my first trip with my baby boy, so I was a little stressed about packing, how he'd be in the car and on the plane, and how he'd adjust to the time change.  I got a bit of packing advice from other moms and tried my best to pack enough of everything I knew Kai would need.  Lots of toys, diapers and wipes (disposable for travel only), sunscreen, blankets, hats and a multitude of sleepers and clothes.

Kai did fairly well on the first leg: the car ride to Kelowna.  Mama sat in the back with Kai while Sarah and Joel got the front.  Only had a few tears, as I have now mastered the lean over method of breast feeding while still in my seat belt!  The next morning was a super early wake up for all of us, and I hardly got any sleep at all because of snoring grandparents in the next bed, different bed and excitement for the trip.  Kai woke up for his early morning feed and was able to fall back to sleep in his car seat until the airport.  The plane wasn't so bad as every time he got a little fussy I stuck a boob in his mouth :-D
Cuba was great, the only thing was that I am not used to being the one who misses things...I'm usually the one that's right alongside everyone, but this trip had to be different.  I was so thankful to have my mom along to help out, but still at the end of the day I wanted to go to bed early because I knew I would be up through the night, and up early in the morning.  Kai needed naps, and I couldn't just hand him over to grammie every time he needed to sleep.  So things were a bit different this time around. Jet lag hit us both pretty hard and we were in bed most of yesterday!  Overall I think it went really well.  The wedding was beautiful, the weather gorgeous, and the company awesome.  Just getting used to travelling as a mama, and not a single woman anymore.
So glad though that Kai did so well for the trip.  What an awesome memory!
